DESCRIPTION: WW - Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT Master, ref 1675, circa 1968, 42mm including crown guards x 47mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back Oyster case with chamfered lugs and a bi-directional 24 hour bezel with red back fat font "Pepsi" insert, riveted expandable link Rolex Oyster bracelet, original matte MK1 Long E dial with luminous painted hour plots, date aperture at 3, 26J cal 1570, s#1893480, triple signed with signed clasp, Rolex riveted 7206 bracelet with 80 end links, 1/69 date stamp, inside back ref 1675 with a IV.68 date stamp. This watch has all the bells and whistles collectors dream about and leave letters to Santa for, including the original box and papers as well as the original matched serial hang tag, paper case back sticker, chronometer certificate, fold out manual and my personal favorite, a letter from Rolex detailing how the original owner, a one Mr. Kenneth B. Law who was serving in the US Air Force at the time, could acquire this fabled watch he so desperately wanted. Truly one of the finest complete sets of a Rolex GMT Master we have had the pleasure of handling in recent memory; don't let it slip away!
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, hardly any oxide to steelwork; nearly flawless dial with ideal creamy luminous plots, small oil spot at dial center at base of hands not noticeable unless highly scrutinized; fine-plus tritium Mercedes hands with light cracking to luminous material on GMT hand and loss of lume to minute hand; polished case shows very light wear, lug chamfers are still visible and crisp, bezel is incredibly stiff, several light dings on the backs of the lugs from being worn on a bracelet as well as a dent on the top-right lug; rebuilt bracelet shows light wear, hardly any stretch, all spring links have been rebuilt however the end links do not fit properly and they sanded off the 7206 reference number; original signed crown shows very little wear, good threads; good plastic crystal; resealed for auction. Inner box shows little wear, missing green insert.
